Nik Federko

Nik Federko is a Kelowna product who golf’s out of the Two Eagles Golf Course as well as the Heat’s home course the Okanagan Golf Club.

A 2017 graduate of Immaculata Reginal high, he has been golfing with the Heat varsity squad for the past three seasons. His best result with UBCO, came in the team’s biggest tournament last season. The lefty-swinging Federko finished fourth overall at the inaugural Canada West Championship at the Bear course of the Okanagan Golf Club. This five-under round was highlighted by a 40-yard holeout on the par-5 ninth.

I chose UBCO because I grew up in Kelowna so I wanted to be able to stay home and go to university as well as play on a golf team that was on its way up.

Federko will be competing at the end of this month in the 118th BC Amateur/Junior Boys Championship at the Okanagan Golf Club, the Bear Course competing against the best amateur golfers in the province.

The former Mustang, and current UBCO Management student, has enjoyed the stay-at-home university student-athlete experience.

“I chose UBCO because I grew up in Kelowna. I wanted to be able to stay home and go to university, as well as play on a golf team that was on its way up.”

Jessica Douglas joined the Heat’s softball team for their very first season as a competitive club competing in the Western Collegiate Softball Association (WCSA).

The catcher, who will also spend time covering ground in the outfield, hails from Langley, BC, and caught the eyes of the Heat coaching staff while she played for the Langley Extreme squad.

The lefty-swinging human kinetics student led the Heat last fall in triples, and RBIs, while posting an OPS of 1.362 in qualifying games.

The backstop is happy to be a part of the burgeoning UBCO softball program.

“I chose to play for UBCO because of the culture and experience the team provided me with, it is truly a special feeling to have the entire team as one big family.”
