Balancing Academics and Athletics
As a UBC Okanagan Heat student athlete, you have time commitments both inside the classroom as well with your respected sport, which makes managing your time key to your success. At UBC Okanagan there are many supports and resources in place to enhance your experience as a student athlete.
Student athlete study halls are designed to provide a structured approach to studying. Student athletes who participate in study hall sessions are expected to come to study hall on time with all of the materials necessary for completing assignments and studying. The target group is first-year student athletes, however, study halls are open to all student athletes as a quiet and uninterrupted space.
At UBC Okanagan, student athletes have the opportunity to take advantage of the many learning supports offered on campus. It is important for students to learn skills and strategies that will enhance their learning experience. Here are some examples of the services student athletes have access to:
- Math/Science Centre
- Supplemental Learning
- Writing & Research Centre
